For many years Mildura South Primary School students have attended ANZAC day ceremonies at the local cenotaph.

In 2019 the Year 6 students walked 100kms to honour those that served on the Kokoda Track during World War II. This culminated with a final walk to the Mildura Cenotaph where a formal ceremony was held.

After this event it was decided to bring the formality of such an occasion closer to home by creating our own war memorial. Our memorial has been approved by the Australian War Graves Commission  and the Mildura RSL Sub Branch.

It is made up of a monolith rock which was kindly donated by Vito and Elizabeth Bozzi and a bronze plaque which was kindly donated by the Mildura South Primary School Parents Club.

Behind this monument flies the Australian flag which is formally raised and lowered daily by Year 6 students.

Mildura South Primary School works closely with the Mildura RSL Sub Branch on matters to do with education, recognition and support in honouring those that have served. 

The Mildura South Primary School war memorial is one of the very few school based memorials in the state. It is now integral to the ongoing leadership development of our students and a daily reminder to us all, of those that have served this great country of ours, and of those that gave the ultimate sacrifice.
