What We Learn In Visual Arts.

Visual Arts is part of our Specialist programs at Mildura South Primary School. Through a sequential and engaging program, students explore the 7 Elements of Art while creating both 2D and 3D artworks.

Students build confidence and technique through:

  • Drawing
  • Cutting & pasting
  • Collage & mixed media
  • Sculpting with clay

Creative Art

Our lessons feature explicit teaching and encourage students to experiment, take creative risks and express their ideas in different ways.

Talking About Art

In Visual Arts, students develop rich art vocabulary by viewing and discussing artworks by a wide variety of artists.

  • Identifying different parts of an artwork
  • Sharing what they like and don’t like – and why
  • Exploring how artworks make them feel
  • Discussing the artist’s purpose and ideas

Celebrating Student Art

Student artworks are proudly displayed around the school before being sent home to families. We love celebrating our students’ creativity!

Art Awards

Students may be selected for an Art Award, presented at whole-school assembly.

Mildura Show

Mildura South Primary School enters student artworks into the Mildura Show each year, showcasing our talented artists in the wider community.
