Mildura South Primary School offers language study (Italiano) as part of the specialist programs. The main strengths developed through languages (Italiano) are; communicating in Italiano, understanding the relationship between language and culture and students understanding themselves as communicators.
Students develop skills such as listening and speaking, reading and writing. The program provides opportunities to learn and practise language through games, role play, ICT, singing and story. Connections are made between students’ own language, culture and value system.
The program allows students to discuss Italian history, culture, food, music and to draw comparisons to their own. Students begin to recognise the contributions and impact the Italian language, culture and its people have had on our society and our communities.
Students are given the opportunity to showcase their learning through assembly performances, Facebook posts and Newsletter items.
